An amazing experience where we promise green valleys, high mountains and vast plateaus. The campground is located just south of the center of Alta in Alta Municipality.
We are located about 5 km from Alta on RV 93 towards Kautokeino (Guovdageaidnu), and is a natural stop whether you are on a relaxing holiday or you want to rest a bit before the next holiday-leg.

Was started by Hildur and Alf Jenssen in 1968. At the beginning consisted campsite of modest 3 letting rooms adjacent to residential housing and space for caravans and tents.
Alf Jenssen was a keen angler and outdoor man and had for years seen the need for a campsite at the Alta river. The many camping tourists who visited Alta, settled down well at Alta River and its scenic surroundings.
Eventually came the first huts to using its own funds and skilled carpenter skills.
Today, Alta River Camping there as a modern wood / four star campsite with high standard and good comfort -nærmere Altariver is it not possible to get.
At the Dutch Automobile Association (ANWB) and the Belgian (ACSI) has selected Alta River Camping as their representative among Alta's seven campsites says no small amount.
In 1986, the Alta River Camping taken over by Anna Synnøve and Inge Karl Jenssen. Hildur and Alf built himself a new residence located in Alta and summer cottage on the campsite. Unfortunately did not Alf so much joy of retirement - he died in 1989.
Inge Karl died suddenly in 1991 at the age of 40 years. Anna Synnøve Jenssen continued on alone, building more and improving the site. Anna passed away in February 2012.
In October of the same year, a Finish Couple, Sirpa and Heikki Haarala bought the site.
